Welcome to Quilts for Kids Illinois Chapter!

Founded in early 2010, Quilts for Kids Illinois Chapter, Inc. is an Illinois nonprofit corporation and is registered with the Illinois Attorney General's Office to solicit donations. One hundred percent of donations received are used toward the creation and delivery of quilts to children suffering with life threatening illnesses.

Our primary focus is to provide quilts to Children's Memorial Hospital Oncololgy Unit located in Chicago. Their need is 50 quilts per month. Quilts from QFK Illinois Chapter stay in the Chicagoland area by being donated to local charities whose mission is to help children with life threatening illness or victims of abuse. To date the majority have been donated to the oncology unit at Chicago Children's Memorial Hospital.

We are looking for sewers and quilters to make quilts for the children.  If you would like to make a quilt, please click Request Quilt Kit button and a pre-cut kit (including pattern and instructions) will be available for pickup by you. Sew and quilt at your own pace at home or join a local sewing group and sew with others. There will be information posted as groups are formed. If you belong to a sewing group or guild please let us know and we will ship or deliver kits for your group. All we ask is that, for every kit we send, you make a second or third quilt from your fabric and return completed quilts to us for donation to two or three seriously ill children. We ask that quilts be completed within eight weeks after receiving your kit.

We also need your support in other areas! Please visit our How to Help page for specifcs. Always our greatest need is monetary donatons -- please consider a donation to help us purchase fabric, supplies and help pay shipping expenses. All contributions are fully tax deductible and will be acknowledged with a receipt.

We have also begun our Sponsor a Quilt program where, for a $10.00 donation, you can donate a quilt in your name or the name of a loved on. More information can be found on the Sponsor a Quilt page.

If you have any additional questions or comments I would appreciate hearing from you. Please click here to send an email. Please take a moment and sign our Guest Book and/or join our Chapter Newsletter Mailing List.
