GENERAL INFORMATION

SIZE: 36” Square NICU quilts or approximately 40” x 45” crib/lap quilts. For older children/teens up to twin-size are acceptable. We are always in need of larger quilts for older children/teens. Gender neutral quilts are also needed.

FABRICS: 100% cotton (regular or flannel). Please do not use polar fleece or repurposed fabric (i.e., used sheets, clothing, etc.). The kids love brightly colored, kid friendly fabrics. Some quilts go to teens so remember if making a quilt for an older child use appropriate fabrics.

BATTING:  One layer of 1/8” - 1/4” LOW LOFT batting - may be cotton, wool, polyester or a blend.

ASSEMBLING THE QUILT: All quilts must be machine pieced and machine quilted (please do not use mono-filament thread). The quilts require a good amount of machine quilting (2 - 2 1/2 inches) since they go through a washer and dryer cycle daily. Don’t forget to quilt in the borders. DO NOT USE invisible or monofilament thread, these can melt in commercial dryers, please use cotton thread.

PLEASE DO NOT HAND TIE THE QUILTS. Hand tied quilts can be a potential choking hazard and do not hold up to the daily washings they go through. DO NOT add emblishments -- buttons, sequins, rhinestones, long strings or loops. These could be a choking hazard.

LABEL: If you requested a kit it will contain a QFK label. Please attach label to the reverse side, lower left hand corner. Do not stitch label into seam. Stitch on all four sides, using closely spaced stitches so label will not catch on IV tubing. Feel free to add your own label alongside the QFK label with your first name or quilt group/guild name, quilt date, and quilt title or name.

PLEASE CHECK FOR PINS!

WASH AND DRY ALL QUILTS BEFORE SENDING, NO fabric softener or dryer sheets.

A tax donation form will be sent to you if requested, for quilts made from your own fabrc, quilts are valued at $100.00 each, postage amount is also included on tax donation form.

Additional kits are available upon request.
