Quilts for Kids Illinois Chapter, Inc. Sponsored Expo Charity

This year Chicago's Original Sewing & Quilt Expo sponsored Quilts for Kids Illinois Chapter, Inc.as the Expo's charity. The event was held March 31 - April 2 at the Schaumburg Convention Center in the Reniansance Hotel. Our double booth provided by the Expo's producers included electricity and tables. Linda Zs provided three Pfaff Select 3.0 sewing machines for use during the show. Deb's Quiltery provided her APQS Lenni long-arm quilting machine, professional quilting services, Pellon cotton batting, and Supeior thread for all quilts created during the Expo. The booth also had cutting and pressing stations. The booth allowed sewers/quilters to stop by and work on quilts for as long as they desired. Our goal for the three-day event was 30 quilts, we completed 18. The quilts will be donated to Chicago Children's Memorial Hospital oncology unit.

If you are unable to join us this year at our booth but would still like to help -- donations of fabric, supplies, notions, quilts, or checks in any amount may be sent to Quilts for Kids, Inc., PO  Box 8211, Romeoville, IL 60446. Also look for us next year as we have been invited back for the 2012 Original Sewing & Quilt Expo and will have a larger booth and more activities. Watch for updates throughout the year on our website!

We are hopeful that the expsoure from this year's Expo will help QFK Illinois Chapter meet our monthly goal of 50 quilts. Many thanks to all our new volunteers and all the wonderful folks who stopped by our booth.
